Suffolk County, New York
Suffolk County, New York is a county located in the U.S. state of New York. Situated on the eastern part of Long Island, it is the easternmost county in the state and part of the New York metropolitan area. Established in 1683, Suffolk County is named after the county of Suffolk in England, reflecting its early English settlement. The county seat is Riverhead, though most county offices are located in Hauppauge.
Geography
Suffolk County covers a total area of 2,373 square miles, making it the largest county in New York by area. It is bordered by the Atlantic Ocean to the south, Nassau County to the west, and the Long Island Sound to the north.
