The name "Zhejiang Wanli University" is derived from the location of the university in Zhejiang Province and the Wanli period of the Ming Dynasty during which Ningbo city experienced significant development.

History

Zhejiang Wanli University was established in 1999 through the merger of several educational institutions. It is under the joint support of the Ministry of Education and the Zhejiang Provincial Government.

The university offers a wide range of programs in various fields such as Economics, Management, Literature, Science, Engineering, Agriculture, Art, Education, Law, and Medicine. It has more than 20,000 full-time students and a faculty of over 1,000.
