Brave is a 2012 American computer-animated fantasy film produced by Pixar Animation Studios and released by Walt Disney Studios Motion Pictures. The film was directed by Mark Andrews and Brenda Chapman, co-directed by Steve Purcell, and produced by Katherine Sarafian. The screenplay was written by Andrews, Purcell, Chapman, and Irene Mecchi, based on a story by Chapman. The film features the voices of Kelly Macdonald, Emma Thompson, Billy Connolly, Julie Walters, Robbie Coltrane, Kevin McKidd, and Craig Ferguson.

Plot

The story is set in the Scottish Highlands and follows Princess Merida, a skilled archer and the impetuous daughter of King Fergus and Queen Elinor. Merida defies an age-old custom, causing chaos in the kingdom by expressing the desire to carve her own path in life. In her quest for independence, she seeks help from a witch, who grants her an ill-fated wish. Merida must rely on her bravery and her archery skills to undo a beastly curse and discover the true meaning of courage.
